Goodbye 2022

As we kick off 2023 this week, I look back at the year that was 2022 and I am filled with gratitude and humility with how much was planned, learned and achieved. 2022 came with its own unique set of challenges and hurdles, but I took them as invaluable opportunities to learn and grow. This is what we do as humans – we experience, adapt and evolve.  This is the energy I always intend to bring to every year.

In 2022, I saw my art and business reach new levels of success and recognition, having released several collaborative projects and new collections of my solo artworks. These projects led me to be featured extensively in local and international publications, as well as appearing on numerous podcasts and television programs.

I was privileged to collaborate with world-renowned brands such as Glenfiddich, Lenovo, On Star and WIO Bank. These collaborations resulted in the creation of artworks which were focussed around thematic elements that I am passionate about: innovation, empowerment and individuality. Along with these collaborations, I also worked with established businesses within the region to produce collaborative pieces and exhibitions to great acclaim such as my featured ongoing exhibition with Hotel Indigo.

Additionally, in 2022, I launched my first generative NFT series titled The Ethernal Gates with Arts DAO, the Middle East’s largest NFT community.  The innovative project was first of its kind in the region aiming to give crypto investors an opportunity to boost their portfolio, as well as giving Arts DAO the opportunity to invest and fund more NFT projects in the Middle East. This project is still ongoing and has gained considerable momentum within the NFT community. This series is incredibly special to me as this is a collaborative effort with an NFT community that I had been an integral part of since the early beginning.

For me 2022 was also a year of great lessons: I learned how to be patient and wait for things to naturally progress and not constantly push and prod. I also learned that it is important to pace myself and not overwork myself to the point of burnout; a break or two is not going to adversely affect my business, but it will only give me more energy to be more creative. Moreover, in 2022, I was able to understand the importance of being vulnerable and asking for help when needed.

With the 12 months of 2023 up ahead, I hope to stay focussed in producing art that best reflects my values, creative spirit and integrity. I will continue to lean into my fears and push myself out of my comfort zone, so I can not only grow as a person but also take my business to the next level. I aim to focus on building and fostering relationships with likeminded individuals, who will enrich my creativity and deepen my humanity. I have already written down my list of goals for 2023 and every day, I will review them and set actions that will help me accomplish them.

As we leave 2022 behind, I would like to wish you a productive and successful 2023. Your support and love have been invaluable to me and has pushed me to become a better artist, entrepreneur and individual. Don’t forget to set your goals for this year, so you know where to direct your focus and determination for the next 12 months!
