Rekt is a phonetic reimagining of the word, wrecked. As a crypto slang, a particular cryptocurrency or a digital asset is considered to be rekt, when it drastically loses its value. Likewise, traders can get rekt if they experience significant losses at the hand of a volatile crypto market. However, it is not all gloom and doom, being rekt does not necessarily mean that a loss has been made monetarily, as there is always prevailing hope that the fallen value of a crypto asset shall rise again to an all-time high.

This artwork is an homage to the perseverance and optimism of those who have been rekt – by the market or in the grander scheme, by life itself. Be it rekt by circumstances or the mistakes that one makes, it is all part of the journey to a greater ascension of one’s being. In this artwork, we see a ship caught in the midst of a tussle with the waves. The water seems to overpower the fledgling vessel but it still stays afloat, with colourful sails soaring high and a mast pointing to the unconquerable celestial heavens. The tossing and turning of the waves may take the ship to the brink of a complete wreck, however its persistence shall get it through. Only so that it may sail atop the oceans once again….
