3 Ways to Take your Art Business to the Next Level Online in 2022

Getting an art business of the ground is no easy feat and when you add technology to the mix, you are in for quite the challenge. For an artist, it is incredibly important to maintain an online presence as this allows for a wider viewership for one’s body of work and help build a following that can lead to potential clients. As we start off 2022, let us focus on taking our online presence and our online art business to the next level!

Here are 3 ways to do that:

Your website is your personal statement

If there is anything that sums up your business’ brand on the internet, it has to be your website. For an artist entrepreneur, your website should be a personal statement that gives the visitor an idea about what your art is about.

Think of your website as a blank canvas on which you are building a collage of your work, ideas and your artistic journey. Your website should be treated like a private gallery of your own work, where you want to display your pieces in the best possible manner. Therefore, the cost of developing a visually appealing website should be considered an investment that you can reap the benefits off later on.

Get in on the online platforms

The art market is a daunting place to be, by associating with an art selling platform online, it can become much easier to connect with potential clientele. There are plenty of websites like Saatchi Art, Art Finder and Singulart that offer you access to their visitors while charging a reasonable commission rate. Even if you do not seem to attract any purchases in the first couple of months on these platforms, it is always a great idea to have updated profiles on these platforms for greater visibility and developing a following.

Put your journey out there

In order to gain a following online and building a brand, it helps when you invite people into your journey as a contemporary artist and what you do on a daily basis. Giving an insight into your life helps people connect and relate with your work and the effort that goes behind it. These regular updates should go out on all of your social media platforms and then should be collated on your website.

The internet is a very visually based space, therefore focusing on photos and videos as a medium for communication with visitors to your social media and websites will be a highly effective strategy. Engagement is key, as you try to actively connect and communicate with netizens who are developing an interest in your work and could possibly be on the lookout to buy contemporary paintings online.

Growing your online art business is a practice in patience and tech savviness, as being diligent and frequent with your engagement and updates online regardless of the infrequent response can be quite challenging. Therefore, trying out the 3 ways explored above can get you started on the road of a thriving online enterprise, keeping in mind that Rome was not built in a day…
